Chapter 22: Invitation to the Party
"We're back."
Aelusdro's party and Marianne's party reunited after completing their respective missions.
"How did it go on your end?"
"Oh, we managed to successfully eliminate the Sahagin group."
"We were planning to focus on development, but who would have thought there were monsters... This place has become quite famous, but in a negative way."
Everyone discussed the results of their missions.
Aelusdro was delighted, but Marianne let out a sigh.
"Well, I suppose the only ones who come to such remote places are monsters."
"What do you mean?"
Marianne gave Aelusdro a cold stare, causing him to immediately fall silent.
In the Nagal region, located on the outskirts of the Galba Empire, development and trade were progressing smoothly.
Thanks to the rewards Rudolf and the others received, the region had become quite lively.
"Now, I will determine the direction of the Nagal region. First of all, I will turn this place into a fantastic tourist destination for non-human beings!"
"A fantastic tourist destination?!"
Marianne had a plan to make the Nagal region one of the world's leading tourist destinations.
"Turning such a remote place into a tourist destination... Marianne, you need to be a bit more realistic."
Aelusdro expressed his criticism to Marianne, who seemed detached from reality.
However, Marianne stood her ground and declared to Aelusdro.
"You just don't understand. The Nagal region is the only place in the Galba Empire where species other than humans are allowed. Can you imagine?"
"Ahh..."
In the Galba Empire, non-human species had long been despised. Merely entering the empire would result in severe mistreatment, and in the worst case, death.
That's why Marianne intended to transform the Nagal region into a place where non-human species could live in the Galba Empire.
"So, as a start, I've decided to organize the Four Elemental Experience Tour in this area. I've convinced the earth spirits to create the necessary tools for it."
Earth spirits, being averse to complex matters, don’t possess any magical abilities. However, they have nimble hands and excel in intricate work. As a result of persuasion, their agreeable nature made them readily nod in approval.
"So, after having the items made, Rudolf and Ellie will create the Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth magic attractions."
"Huh? Am I doing that? Well, I do have some free time, so I'll lend a hand."
"Well, well, aren't you acting important..."
"Don't you dare say that."
"In that case, I'll be the sparkling mascot and serve as the guide!"
And so, Rudolf and Ellie ended up assisting with the Four Elemental Experience Tour.
"Now, Miro and Yumir, we would like the base to be a bit larger."
"If the base is just a shack, no one would think Marianne is the lord."
"What do you mean...? So, could you please build Marianne Castle in the Nagal region?"
Marianne Castle, however, might exceed the budget. Thinking this, Miro intended to voice her concerns to Marianne, but she confidently replied, "Don't worry."
Even Yumir, who found her baseless confidence puzzling, raised an eyebrow.
"Can you really build a castle with such a budget?"
"Rest assured. Yumir, with your magic, we can build a castle in an instant."
"Well, I'll give it a try."
"And Miro, you will be in charge of the physical labor to stabilize the castle created by that magic."
"Hmph, don't underestimate my strength."
Yumir was not particularly enthusiastic, while Miro was full of motivation. Despite their contrasting attitudes, both shared the same intention to assist Marianne.
And so, Miro and Yumir, the two temporal police officers, decided to build the castle and contribute to Marianne's cause.
"Now, Aelusdro and Shuu, I have a special role for each of you."
"What is it?"
"I want you to eliminate those who dare to oppose me."
"What!?"
The two were taken aback, but Marianne had thought this through in her own way.
Aelusdro was a Dark elf, and Shuu was a beastman assassin.
Marianne gave them dark tasks because she herself was aligned with darkness.
"It's for my world domination. I won't show mercy to those who oppose me."
"Truly evil..."
"Well, I am the villainess, after all."
Marianne shrugged off Shuu's comment.
"Alright, I understand. I'll take on this role."
"Hmph, assassination... you seem to understand."
Shuu brandished his two daggers.
Aelusdro gained even more confidence by having a designated "role."
"As the first step towards world domination, we will conquer the Nagal region! Everyone, give it your all!"
"OOOOH!"
And so, Aelusdro and the others spent peaceful days in the Nagal region for Marianne's ambition.
------
Marianne elegantly enjoyed tea with Aelusdro in the castle they had built to replace the shack.
"The tea we drink here is truly delicious."
"Yes, it's all thanks to everyone for creating this environment."
Peaceful days slowly passed by.
However, a person arrived bearing a letter.
"Hello."
Marianne opened the door to welcome the visitor.
The person who brought the letter was Rolf, a journalist from the Galba Empire.
"Marianne-sama, this letter is designated for you."
Rolf respectfully handed over the letter to Marianne.
Marianne opened the letter and read its contents.
"Dear all, I hope this letter finds you well. This is Emma Craelsh. Today, I have become engaged to the first prince of the Galba Empire, Leve Ridrein. In celebration of this occasion, I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to attend the party."
"From Emma? Is this her way of trying to belittle me..."
Receiving a letter from her love rival, Emma, Marianne's expression turned unpleasant.
However, Aelusdro saw this as an opportunity to leave this place.
"Well, regardless, if I can meet that woman face to face, I would like to compete with her. And I will surely emerge as the victor!"
Marianne was fired up because she could directly confront Emma.
"It seems like it's time to part ways with this borderland."
"We're not parting ways. We're just going a little distance. We'll depart on the Foliah!"
"Wow!"
"...Finally, the time has come for us to leave this place."
And so, Aelusdro and the others went to the imperial capital.
Leaving the prosperous Nagal region in the hands of civil and military officials, the ship carrying the group set sail towards the imperial capital of Galba, Yurieru.
